Wild Glaze

We are inviting you to our 15-hour workshop of collecting local materials and preparing glazes for ceramics, where we will discover the composition of glazes and develop our own glaze recipes through the understanding of the materials.

Day 1:

We will spend the first day searching for and collecting local clay and learning to identify local geology.

Day 2:

On our second day we will learn about basic elements that are typically found in glaze recipes, both commercial and those we can locally collect ourselves. This will give us a reference framework within which we can recognize their role in glazes and how they behave. We will continue by preparing materials for future testing and developing recipes, which means processing different clays and making primary tests.

Day 3:

We will begin by analysing fired primary tests. Based on them we will prepare secondary tests, for which we will learn about line blend technique.

Day 4:

On the fourth day we will again spend some time analyzing the tests from the previous day and then create more by using the triaxial blend technique.

Day 5:

On our last day we will reflect on best ways to finding and collecting local geology and learn how to read topographical and geological maps as our basic guides to determine where to find materials in nature. We will open the kiln and analyze final tests and suggest improvements. We will place all the collected tests together and discuss it at a round table, which will also allow for addressing final questions and unclarities.

The workshop is suitable for both beginner and advanced participants.

DIVJA GLAZURA

Vabimo vas na 15-urno delavnico nabiranja lokalnih materialov in priprave glazur, kjer bomo preko razumevanja materialov spoznavali sestave glazur in razvili lastne recepte.

Nekaj časa bomo ponovno namenili analizi testov in nato izdelali nove teste na podlagi tehnike triosnega mešanja z uporabo treh materialov.

Odprli bomo peč, analizirali finalne teste in predlagali izboljšave.
